A new song is in the works… gonna call this one “Think of Me” OR “Sweet Peace” OR “A Song for Nancy”!! As you can see the song title choice is as clear as mud! :) No sweat there as it always works itself out.
What I do know is this tune is one I've been hopeful to get right, as it's written in memory of a dear friend, who I did not have long enough to know.
Some of you know and remember our band's old bass player Frank Portaro. Frank played with us for around 4 years and still fills in with us as a sub. During that earlier time of playing with Frank I had the EXTREME PLEASURE of getting to know his wife Nancy. She was delightful - kind, caring, an easy laugh, to the point with her thoughts without being mean. She became a dear friend in a rather short amount of time! Sadly, we lost Nancy to Cancer back in '19.
Nancy was a courageous fighter and showed great faith in what she believed ALL THE WAY right up to her final days. Being moved by what I saw in Nancy I wanted to put down in song and lyric a bit of a tribute to her and to her life! She lived life in a way that was very peaceful. I'd say she had figured it out - and thus had such a great sense of what was important, and never seemed to “sweat the small stuff” and instead found joy in the simple.
